Let us find the thin-line between “Me” and “I” so that we will be happy and happy forever. If someone praises, we feel happy.
But for how long this happiness lasts? If the same person criticize, what happens to that happiness? We need to understand what actually the other person is saying about?
The author wants the Reader to recollect whether “I” changes when an individual has hair cut, pedicure, amputation (unfortunately), etc. But “Me” changes when these happen. For instance, if the Reader is given an opportunity to dance on roadside all of a sudden, the thought what the Reader gets is ” What other people think of “me”?”.In another instance, if the Reader is given an opportunity as President of USA, the thought is “Can I handle it?”. Right.
What are “me” and “I”? in thoughts. The author feels that “I” is the absolute which stands and exists on its own. “Me” is the feature attributed by sense organs to “I”. “Me” is what the collective recognition by the outside world. “Me” is the bodily appearance, physical possessions, organizational status, societal status, family status, financial matters, etc., that the world sees the “I”. The world knows about you by “me’. But everyone has an “I” which is known by oneself only which didn’t change from birth.
The author opinions that the “Me” is recognized by
1. The Physical appearance as “I” have glowing skin, shiny teeth, long hair, exercised body, slim and attractive body, etc. “I ” feel “happy” when someone points out and praises “Me” as gorgeous/handsome, gladly. We are attracted to the same physical appearance of others (“Me”) and expect something in return. The reader knows that this “happiness” does not long last forever which is not permanent.
2. The Possessions that “I” have. The possessions that this “I” possesses like status, houses, cars, gold, diamonds, etc. We are again attracted to the “Me” and feel happy. We expect that these possessions keep us “happy” which long lasts.
3. The “me’ is what the Reader perceives in other person’s view. It goes like this. What they think about me? What he/she says about me? What if it happens to me?
‘Me’ is the recognition what the world around, gives to “I”. As the world is changing continuously, the “me” also changes. Through all the changes, “I” in unchanged, which Reader is aware of. Finally, if we can identify “I”, happiness starts to flow-in. Hope the Reader understand the difference between “I” and “Me”. How to make this “HAPPY” long last forever?
The author wants to discuss these points.
