Being “I” is a state of mind or thoughts, which is at only “PEACE” and “HAPPY” state. If anyone can reach that state, we are HAPPY forever. The author asks the reader to identify the “I” within. If we can identify “I”, which is unchanged, to whatever is happening around us we feel Happy. The reason for unhappiness is that we (the Author and the Reader) superimpose the happenings onto “I” which deprive us from Happy state and is not the actual state of “I”. We relate whatever we do, to “I”. We feel that the”I” is doing all. When we do something, to others, we superimpose/claim the thoughts, words, and deeds are from “I”. We use statements like, ‘I like this’, ‘I am this’, ‘I want to be’, ‘I have ..’, ‘I did this’, etc. We want all the credit to “I”. Actually the world around us sees this “I” as “Me”. Right? Then “Me” is the doer not the “I”.
In general, we say, “This is my dress”, This is my car”, “This is my home”, “This is my office”, “This is my spouse”, “This is my friend”, “This is my partner”, “This is my status”, “This is my money”, and so on. Also we say “Oh! My God”. n the same lines “This is hand”, “This is my face”, “This is my color”, “This is my hair”, “This is my beauty”,and so on . As a matter of fact all the body parts are said like this. Are the body parts are same as possessions? Now among all where is our “I”? All the above perishes or changes with time, but “I” doesn’t change, which is the source of Peace.
Now, the author doubts whether we understand the “I”? For example, If a person in conversation with the Reader, opposes the Reader’s ( “I have done this”) claim, the reader feels unhappy. The unhappiness is due to the attachment to “Me”, than “I”. The happiness by “Me” ends when the action or situation changes or if any one opposes or things go unexpectedly.
The author wants the Reader to think deeply into this claim on “I”., which is causing ‘unhappiness’. As in post 3, if “I” is not related to physical appearance, senses, behavior, or the body, then is this claim true? If the Reader understands this, Happiness inflow increases manifolds.
